Gregory Maven and Paragon Packs have been around for a number of years already, but they have redesigned them for the new 2020 season and they are better than ever.
What this is about
Gregory is one of the top brands in the outdoor packs’ industry, and they build gender-specific packs. So Maven and Paragon are the packs for women and for men, respectively, and they share the same basic features, but they also have some differences in the design related to the female and male body differences.
Formally, there are also differences in the size (volume) so the Maven packs come in the volumes of 45, 55, and 65 liters, while the corresponding Paragon packs are in the volumes of 48, 58, and 68 liters. But each of these three sizes also comes in two sub-sizes so you have 6 different sizes in each of the two series.
So these are mid-size packs ideal for multi-day tours. Here are some of their most important features.
Adjustable harness
Note that this implies adjustability of the torso length and also adjustable hip belt fins. The latter means that you can move the fins forward or backward to have the best position around your body. Both adjustabilities are convenient also if several family members use the same pack. This is all Velcro-type connection so moving the harness to your best position is easy.
Multiple access points
Maven and Paragon packs are built as classic packs with top access under the floating lid. But they all have a bottom access as well with a removable divider between the two compartments. In addition to this, there is also a side zippered access to the main compartment, and this is a new feature introduced in this new version of the Gregory Paragon and Maven packs.
Metal frame
These are packs with a perimeter wishbone-shaped frame, plus a central anti-barreling horizontal fiberglass stay behind the back panel. This stay is also a new feature added to prevent bulging of the pack when it is fully loaded.
Other features
These packs come with a rain cover, this is a nice bonus to have. There are 7 pockets at usual places. These include two hip belt pockets, two stretch side pockets, two pockets in the lid, and a large stretch pocket on the front.
All necessary attachment elements and compression straps are in place, and you also have a QuickStove feature for the glasses on the shoulder strap.
Please see more about these new packs in the videos below, here is the video for the Maven packs designed specifically for women:
